In early 2008, I set out to find something that would use the screen displayed by most mobile phones, most of the time, for something more than just device status, one-to-one communicator, tasks or a icon grid. I found a good concept in the recent trend of friend feeds and analysed the core issues for adapting the concept to mobile phones, came up with suggestions for dealing with them, and in part designed an example for an interface.

For my thesis work, I looked at the process of making private plans with friends (a picnic, "I want to see this movie", "let's have coffee!"). Calendars are great for when they are set in techincal details such as time, date and place. But plans spend most of their life cycle being an idea, just a seed. My thesis work was a explorative design project where I looked at how large, shared, multitouch interactive surfaces could be used to support the task of keeping up with private plans before they are a time-date-place.
