Created together with Nils Vaernö, David Yanagisawa and Jens Kärngren, the scrolling weather synth is an iPhone application that generates music based on your position and the current weather.
The scrolling weather synth could be seen as a generative piece of ambient sound art, a piece of calm technology designed to be launched and then sit in the periphery doing its thing.
It does not play pre-recorded loops, but rather grabs a complicated set of weather data, looks at the time and date, and then generates a relevant and suitable never-ending musical piece. The music is accompanied by a landscape scrolling by with graphics matching the same set of data, as well as visualising certain aspects of the melody.
Different from most music or sound based apps in the App Store, the scrolling weather synth has an artistic look.
Soon available on the App Store.
